William Ruffin Stepp is a committed follower of Christ and
passionate about ministry within the body of Christ and the
Presbyterian Church, USA. He is the 36 year old son of Betty
Ann and Reverend William Stepp, pastor of Memorial Presbyterian
Church in West Palm Beach, FL. Ruffin and his three brothers
grew up in West Palm Beach where they were involved in the
worship, mission and youth programs of the church. Following
high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for
six years, serving in the Desert Shield and Desert Storm
Theaters. He graduated from the University of Central Florida
with a major in Organizational Communications and a minor in
Business Administration. Following college he worked as a
logistics Management Specialist for the Department of the Navy.
Ruffin’s deepening faith grew and became central to who he is
and what he ultimately found to be his life’s work. During
their time in the Orlando area, Ruffin and Melanie were
well-loved volunteer youth leaders at the First Presbyterian
Church in Maitland. In 2003 God called him to become Director
of Youth and Family Ministries at Memorial Presbyterian under
the mentorship of his Dad. Here he was able to offer physical
and spiritual assistance to those in need both locally and in
the barrios of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A trained Stephen
Minister, Ruffin has also served on the ministry staff at
Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church in New Hope, PA, and as a
chaplain at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California.
He
received his Master’s of Divinity from Fuller Theological
Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Concurrently he served an internship
as designated pastor of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Los
Angeles. Ruffin filled multiple roles in this challenging
situation and was found by the San Gabriel Presbytery consultant
to have done a most incredible job.
On
his off days, you can find Ruffin and his family with fishing
poles and sandwiches in hand going out to catch a boat load of
fun together.
Ruffin’s life is centered on his commitment to Christ and to his
family. He and Melanie have been married eleven years and are
the parents of Kathryn (age 4) and William (age 1 ½). Melanie
is an accomplished Sunday School coordinator and family
ministry volunteer. She is a strong and devoted partner in
ministry.
