Chuck Moffett
On October 1, 2006 the Rev. Chuck Moffett
joined our ministry staff as Pastor for Equipping Ministries. This
part-time position (15 hours per week) was designed to help fulfill the
Biblical mission “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for
building up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). As Pastor for
Equipping Ministries, Chuck will work with the staff,
Session, and Volunteer Ministry Team to meet with individual members and to offer learning opportunities that will encourage
people to utilize their resources and life experiences for the kingdom
of God, to help people discover their spiritual gifts and claim their
God-given talents, and to guide people to particular avenues of ministry
that match their unique interests and dreams. Chuck brings
particular passion for this area of ministry, having equipped Christians
to serve with joy during his forty years of pastoral ministry. As part of a family of Presbyterian
missionaries, Chuck was born in India. After graduating from Maryville
College and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Chuck served
congregations in Minnesota and Kentucky before beginning a 28-year ministry
leading the Canfield (Ohio) Presbyterian Church. Upon his honorable
retirement from full-time pastoral ministry, Chuck and his wife, Peg, moved
to Venice in 2005 and began attending VPC through a personal invitation by one of our members. Chuck and Peg have been married for 45 years and have two sons and five grandchildren. On Sundays when Chuck will not be serving in a pastoral role in worship, you’ll probably see him with Peg in the Chancel Choir!
